Zones of Regulation

The PDF link below is a lesson plan written on TRU’s lesson plan template in my first semester of year two of the Bachelor of Education Elementary program. The lesson was written for and used in the September portion of my final practicum at Sun Peaks Elementary in a grade 3/4 class. This particular lesson went over well and the students enjoyed the activity. September is a great time to introduce the Zones of Regulation and begin conversing about emotional well-being as it can then be referred to throughout the year. It is essential to teach students to identify their emotions and strategies to regulate themselves as an unregulated student is not in the mindset to learn.

Socials Studies: Youth Climate Justice

The PDF links below are a lesson plan and slides that I created in my second semester in the education program in the Socials Studies Methods class. The lesson is targeted towards grades 6 or 7 and the aim is to inform students of the global, youth led climate activism movement and to inspire students to partake in climate activism. This lesson has not been used in a practicum as of yet, but I would love to get the chance to teach it in the future.
