Roxanne Letterlough Aboriginal DANCEPL3Y

The DANCEPL3Y program is a physical literacy program designed to engage kids in developing movement skills while promoting positive mental health. Within this framework, Roxanne Letterlough has developed an Aboriginal DANCEPL3Y inspired by traditional Indigenous dances and concepts. In September of 2021, I attended an Aboriginal DANCEPL3Y workshop led by Roxanne herself where she introduced us to the concept, led us through several moves and choreographed routines, and showed us how we can bring this strategy into our teaching practice. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop experience and was happy to be given a new strategy in which I can implement Indigenous culture into my teaching practice in a honourable and respectful way.

Strategies for Dealing with Difficult and Challenging Behaviours with Katy Bigsby

I attended an online workshop led by Katy Bigsby through SD73’s ASSAI program. During this workshop Katy offered us solutions to dealing with challenging behaviours and introduced us to her REIL model. This workshop was hugely beneficial as Katy did plenty of role play and used real scenarios from our experiences to model how approach students displaying a variety of behaviours. After this workshop I was able to implement some of the strategies that Katy introduced in my ASSAI program classrooms. I am so thankful that SD73 was able to provide the workshop to the ASSAI program employees.
